The seventh season of Game of Thrones feels like it finished a lifetime ago, and unfortunately we have to wait a whole year until it’s with us again. Ugh.
Hands up if you’ve got serious Jon Snow withdrawal symptoms rn.
But while the final series of GoT will undoubtedly pull in record numbers of viewers – especially considering HBO bosses recently revealed the cast broke down after discovering how the show ends – we were pretty shook to hear one former cast member won’t be watching, and has admitted he doesn’t even like the show.
Gary Wales played one of the Walter Frey’s clan, before the house were slaughtered by Arya Stark for their part in the Red Wedding. Remember now?
And while mere mortals like us could only dream of larking around on set with the likes of Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, the actor admitted he’s just not that bothered about the show at all.
“I’ve never had an interest in Vikings or old era… fighting with swords and stuff. I’ve never had an interest.”, he told The Express.
In fact, Gary – who’s now turned his hand to modelling – even admitted he’d never even seen an episode, adding: “I’ve never been a fan of it, and I probably will not [be]. I like drama, true events, like a thriller.” Well, each to their own, ey.
Meanwhile, it looks like Gary’s former co-stars are in for a dramatic few months after Francesca Orsi, Senior Vice President of drama at HBO, that characters that survived until the last season will now die ‘one by one’.
Recounting the cast’s read-through of the final series, Orsi recently revealed at an INTV conference in Jerusalem (via Variety), “It was a really powerful moment in our lives and our career. None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started to fall down to their deaths.
“By the end, the last few words on the final script, the tears just started falling down. Then there was applause that lasted 15 minutes.”
OKAY, I am not emotionally prepared for this.
